The term “food combining” refers to those combinations of foods which are compatible with each other in digestive chemistry. In other words, the goal of food combining is to aid the digestive processes. By combining your personal blood type foods correctly and applying the following principles, your nutrition will be enhanced, since only food which is digested is capable of nourishing us. Additionally, we will avoid the poisonous byproducts of indigestion, along with its unpleasant symptoms.

Efficient digestion also has a beneficial influence on the body’s energy level. The amount of energy expended to digest three conventional meal has been estimated to be the equivalent of 8 hours “working” energy. By selecting compatible food combinations the digestive task is lessened, which allows more energy for other activities.

Digestive Factors

Although food combining will aid the digestive processes considerably, it will not guarantee good digestion. There are other factors which may reduce our digestive capacity, such as overeating, eating under stressful
conditions, eating when fatigued, eating just before or soon after strenuous exercise, and eating during strong emotional experiences. Also, whenever fever or inflammation are present, the digestive powers are diminished
to conserve energy. Substances such as condiments (including table salt), vinegar, alcohol, coffee and tea all irritate the digestive tract and considerably retard digestion. All these factors must be considered if one desires good digestion, and consequently, a well-nourished body.

Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a ‘cooling’ fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Water vs. Soda?

The weekend will be nice and with nice weather also comes a plethora of events and activities that aren’t friendly on our health and diet goals.  You’re at a BBQ and they offer you a Soda – in your mind you are probably thinking “Hey, why not, it won’t kill me!”.  THINK AGAIN.  Below are some statistics and facts on why that thought of “hey, why not” should never enter your vocabulary when choosing a soda over a refreshing water garnished with simple flavors like lemon or mint.

  1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (This probably applies to half of the world’s population).

SODA

  1. In many U.S. states, the highway patrol carries two gallons of Soda in the truck if it is necessary to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.
  2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Soda and it will be gone in two days.
  3. To clean a toilet, pour a can of Soda into the toilet bowl and let the “real thing” sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Soda removes stains from vitreous china.
  4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers, rub the bumper with a rumpled up piece of aluminum foil dipped in Soda.
  5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals, pour a can of Soda over the terminals to bubble away corrosion.
  6. To loosen a rusted bolt, apply a cloth soaked in Soda to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
  7. To remove grease from clothes, empty a can of Soda into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent and run through a regular cycle. The Soda will help loosen grease stains.
  8. Soda can clean road haze from your windshield.

FURTHERMORE

  1. The active ingredient in Soda has a pH of 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days and will leach calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.
  2. To carry Soda syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the hazardous material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.
  3. The distributors of Soda have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

The United States has become one of the sickest nations in the world. We have the most obesity, illness and disease, with cancer now rivaling heart attacks as our #1 killer. Even our young children are being diagnosed with cancer, obesity, late diabetes, autism, celiac disease, high cholesterol, high triglycerides and signs of narrowing and hardening of the arteries. Recent research presented at the American Heart Association’s scientific meeting in New Orleans, in the fall 2008, stated that more than half of the 70 youngsters ages 10 to 18, enrolled in the Children’s Mercy Hospital Study had a “vascular age” about 30 years older than their actual ages, putting  them at risk for early heart attacks, strokes and death.

These findings are unprecedented and unacceptable. Our children are our future and the future is not looking so bright. It’s obvious that what we’re doing now is not working. Basically, we tend to treat our symptoms and not the cause of those symptoms.
To achieve true health, we need to learn to practice preventive medicine, live a healthy lifestyle and take responsibility for our actions. We can’t pass the buck to the doctors, looking for the magic pill of health. It’s not their responsibility, it’s ours!

If a foundation is weak, the structure will collapse. If we work on fixing our basic physical foundation – the way we live, eat and think – we can take charge, be in control and have long healthy lives. Essentially, we
become the “cause” and not the “effect.”

Let’s Be Honest

Illness is the result of poor nutrition, bad eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle. Natural foods include foods that are organically grown, as well as those that are not processed, refined or stored for any length of time. I have already written a summary of the importance of enzymes in a previous article. Here is more detailed information explaining the value of enzymes in the diet for people of all ages.

Enzymes are protein-based substances found in every cell of every living plant and animal, including the human body. Without enzymes, life would cease to exist. All life processes, such as digestion and breathing are regulated in part by a complex series of chemical reactions we refer to as metabolism.

Despite their importance in metabolism, according to Dr. Edward Howell, considered the father of enzyme research, the number of enzymes each cell can produce is limited. To multiply our “enzyme store,” we must replenish them from our foods.

Today’s diet can be deficient in enzymes. Instead, the popular diet consists of hamburgers, french fries, sugar loaded soft drinks, coffee and other fast foods. Moreover, most of our foods are fried, microwaved, baked, canned, frozen, dried or irradiated, all processes that deplete valuable enzymes. With our food potentiators destroyed, vital nutrients are not available to fuel the body. This puts the body’s digestive system under stress, which can manifest itself in fatigue, headaches, excess weight, heartburn, bloating, constipation, gas, allergies and other digestive disorders.

Therefore, many children and adults are lacking digestive enzymes that are sufficient for proper digestion and assimilation of nutrients. This can show up as chronic bowel dysfunction. Thus, in some children and adults, enzyme replacement therapy may be crucial for good health.

The enzyme class of lipase is responsible for breaking down fats to fatty acids, and the carbohydrases break down carbohydrates into simple sugars. The body will then be able to reassemble these components into specific forms it needs. If this process does not function properly, the body will lack the building blocks needed for growth and health maintenance. Another consequence is that the food not absorbed will trail down to the bowels and provide nutrient rich materials that foster the growth of unhealthy bacteria and yeast.

Enzymes To The Rescue!

The addition of full spectrum enzymes to each meal can significantly assist digestion and help to alleviate digestive disorders.

These five supplements should be thought of as our daily fuel. Every car needs gas, oil, water, transmission fluid and brake fluid. Anyone of these missing and the car will malfunction. Well every man, woman and child needs their personal equivalent. If anyone of these five essential supplements are missing a person will not function at their prime.

You could have oil, water, transmission fluid and brake fluid in a car but without gas you are going nowhere. The same goes for the five essentials for humans. There is one that is needed to make all the others work. To breakdown, assimilate and absorb. Without this one all you have is expensive urine. With it the other five and all other supplements will be utilized correctly as well as digestion of food.
